News Headlines

InChant was formed in August 2005 by Ohio State University students Stephen Hill and Nathan Haubert and Ohio State alumnus and Manager of Communications, Wayne Rowe.  The group's first public performance was under the name Mixed Nuts, at a tailgate party prior to a September 3, 2005, Ohio State vs. Miami University football game.  After a short stints under the names"Mixed Nuts" and  "Voice Male," InChant's name was officially adopted, January 19, 2006, at their first full length concert, in Morrill Hall Auditorium at Ohio State Marion, as part of the university's Five Nights on Campus series cultural arts series.  The group's first cd "In Rhythm...In Time" was recorded in March 2006 and released in the summer of 2006.  Originally formed as an all men's a cappella vocal ensemble, InChant welcomed its first female members in Summer of 2006.  The group has honed its musical direction to focus on SATB arrangements of upbeat contemporary a cappella from the 1960's through today.  A unique beatbox sound melded with traditional layering of harmony and upbeat tempos make InChant's sound unique.  In August 2008, the group officially opened itself to students from Marion Technical College.  In 2008, InChant transformed to become a more traditional collegiate contemporary a cappella group with aspirations to continue with their collegiate roots and expand professionally. Students involved in InChant perform for several non-profit organizations causes annually including:  Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Marion County, the Juvenile Diabetes Association, local high school music fundraisers, scholarship and college fundraisers.  InChant is an officially recognized student organization of Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion.  The group is funded through its performances and corporate sponsorships.  Funds raised by the group help cover expenses and provide scholarship funds for those involved.
